In winter... As snow falls heavily all around, food is becoming scarce in Insect City. The streets echo with the hungry cries of the starving masses, but their Mayor is powerless to help them. Now another menace is threatening the city: a gruesome and ruthless cannibal, aided by a mysterious Firefly. Framed for the vicious attacks, a small Fly sets out to clear his name and must unravel the web of deceit that has fallen over the city.

In 2005 Director Hugo Cuellar was commissioned by the Cineworks funding scheme to direct this short film "Famine", produced at Red Kite Animations, Famine was screened at a variety of festivals including Animacor International Animation Festival, Future Film Festival, Bologna, Italy and Inter Animation FF Vilnius, Lithuania.
